Description:

Only around 6,150 New Model 1863 Rifles adapted for socket bayonets were manufactured c. 1863-1865. It has a German silver blade front sight, Lawrence patent rear sight, "SHARPS RIFLE /MANUFG. CO./HARTFORD. CONN." and "NEW MODEL 1863" on top of the barrel, standard patent markings, iron patch box, two cartouches on the left side of the wrist, and sling swivels on the middle barrel band and bottom of the buttstock.

Rating Definition:

Very good with strong traces of original blue finish, traces of original case colors, mottled brown patina on the balance, pitting mostly on the breech, mild oxidation, and moderate scrapes and dings on the otherwise fine wood. Mechanically fine.
