Description:

Manufactured by the Moore's Patent Firearms Company circa 1864 to 1870, this front loading revolver features a factory floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background on the frame, cylinder and barrel sides. The top of the barrel at the breech has an engraved clam shell motif. Coverage is about 70%. The top of the barrel has the one-line Moore's address, and the cylinder has the one-line patent date marking among the engraving. The right side of the frame has a hooked extractor. The barrel and frame are silver plated, the hammer is casehardened, the cylinder and trigger are gold plated, and the grips are pearl. The case is lined in blue velvet and contains a cartridge block holding 50 cartridges. The exterior of the lid has an inlaid plaque with the initials "D.D.Y."

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% original silver plating with most of the loss on the barrel and 80% plus original gold plating. The grips are also very fine with attractive color. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine showing minor scratches on the exterior and high edge wear on the lining. A very fine example of a factory engraved two-tone Moore's Front Loading Revolver that is a must have for an early American cartridge handgun collection.
