Manufactured in circa 1850. Browned damascus steel rifled barrels with solid rib signed "R. B. RODDA & Co, LONDON & CALCUTTA" front blade sight insert and rear three leaf notch sight graduated from 100 to 300 yds, two ramrod pipes, one with attached sling eyelet, and brass tipped dark hardwood rod numbered to the rifle. Casehardened breech with light scroll on top and silver discs. Casehardened hammer and locks with light scroll engraving and signed "R B RODDA & Co" on each lock. Casehardened trigger guard with extended finger rest marked "2100", and smooth double triggers with engraved, shaped trigger plate and ramrod insert. Checkered straight grip walnut stock with silver initial escutcheon, sling eyelet, and engraved casehardened butt plate. With period case with brass screwheads, handle, and blank initial escutcheon, lined in green baize with period maker's label with period Hindi notes written in pencil. Includes a sling, dark hardwood target rod, various brush heads, patch cutter, and a bullet mold numbered to the rifle.

Very fine with 80% of the browned finish remaining on the barrels with a couple areas of discoloration. The breech, hammers, locks, and other furniture retain 60% of the original casehardened finish and well defined engraving. The refreshened stock has sharp edges and checkering with a small hairline crack coming off the left lock, and scattered dents and dings. The case is fine with several long scratches, a repair to the lid, a painted on rack number. The interior has some staining and a few tears on the edges, the label has the aforementioned notes, a small hole and some staining. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
