Dated 1880. With browned round damascus barrel signed “COX & SON 28 HIGH ST. SOUTHAMPTON” on the short sighting flat at the bolstered breech end. Border and scroll engraved casehardened action with carved percussion fence and back action lock signed “COX & SON”. Figured walnut pistol grip stock with rubber recoil pad, checkered grip and forearm, and green horn forearm cap.

Barrel retaining nearly all of the rebrowned finish, signature clear, occasion dark patch from old corrosion marking visible beneath the finish. Action and rebounding lock with a brown patina, engraving clear, water table with original casehardened finish. Stock with minor handling marks, well defined checkering, rubber butt pad hardening, forearm wood with glued repair to left edge. Nitro reproofed. Mechanically excellent.
