Manufactured between 1900 and 1920. Browned twist Damascus steel dovetail lump barrels with chambers marked and measured at 2 1/2 inches, single bead sight on the smooth concave rib marked "BOSS & Co. 73 St. JAMES STREET LONDON", light engraving around the breeches, gold inlaid "1" at the breech end of the rib, and London (1954-1989) reproofs on the flats. Casehardened round body side lock action with single non-selective trigger, gold lined cocking indicators, "BOSS"S PATENT EJECTOR" marking one either side of the action, and automatic sliding tang safety. The action and locks feature fine full coverage rose and scroll engraving with "BOSS & Co." banners, matching engraved trigger guard and tangs, and matching gold inlaid "1" on the lever. Checkered walnut straight grip stock and forearm with engraved fittings, Anson latch, blank gold initial oval, and checkered horn buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech proved at .740/.729 and measured at .741/.734; choke constriction .004/.021 (improved cylinder/modified); minimum wall thickness .015/.021; drop at comb 1 7/16 inches; drop at heel 2 1/16 inches; length of pull 14 1/2 inches; cast on.

Fine as professionally refurbished and re-proofed with 97% brown finish on the barrels, strong visible Damascus pattern, crisp legible markings, and some small scratches and dings. The action and locks have and overall silver/gray patina with well-defined engraving, some small dings, and softened markings and engraving on the trigger guard. The wood is also fine with small dings and scratches, freshened varnish, and small surface crack on the forearm, and faint hairline crack behind the left lock. Mechanically excellent.
