Description:

This Registered Magnum is one of only 735 manufactured with a 8 3/4 inch barrel and is highly embellished by renowned Master Engraver Arnold Griebel who has signed his work on the butt (ENGR. BY A.GRIEBEL"). The revolver is decorated with near full coverage floral scrollwork on a stippled background. The cylinder has simple gold inlaid line borders. The left side of the frame has a monogram in gold on a stippled background. The side plate has a raised gold eagle on a stippled background. The revolver is fitted with a Marble beaded blade front sight, "U" notch adjustable rear sight, and checkered S&W medallion Magna grips. German born Griebel arrived in the United States in 1928, was originally employed as a die engraver, eventually became a well accomplished freelance gun engraver living in Chicago and passed away at the age of 79 in 1970.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as embellished by A. Griebel, retaining 98% plus of the reapplied high quality blue finish with mostly light wear on the front strap and a faint cylinder drag line. The cylinder has a plum appearance. The grips are fine with a couple tiny chips, some minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. This is a great chance to acquire a true work of firearms art by noted Master Engraver A. Griebel. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
