The included factory letter confirms the serial number, barrel length, caliber, factory nickel finish, stocks as "Not Listed", and November 17, 1937 date of shipment as one of three pistol shipped to Roces & Company of Manila, Philippines. The letter further remarks that standard stocks at the time would have been "checkered walnut". Standard blade front and notch rear sights, two-line address and patent marking on left side of slide, maker, caliber, and Rampant Colt marking on the right, short checkered trigger, checkered slide catch, magazine release, thumb safety, and wide spur hammer, and arched checkered mainspring housing. Fitted with period non-factory replacement pearl grips.

Exceptionally fine with 95% untouched original nickel plated finish, some light flaking along the back strap edge and lower front grip strap. Grips are very fine period replacements with some small dings and scratches, and small areas of darker coloration. Mechanically excellent. Documented pre-war nickel Colt 38 Supers are rare!
