Description:

This is a very fine example of a pre-World War I DWM Model 1906 first issue/altered Imperial German Navy Luger. This series of navy Lugers has the standard grip safety, 6-inch barrel with the altered second pattern (upper) arsenal remarked "GESICHERT" safety and no chamber date. The left side of the barrel extension has the double crown over "M" proofmarks with the smaller Imperial "crown" firing proof that is repeated again on the left side of the barrel. The frame and underside of the barrel are both correctly numbered with the full serial number (6020). The last two digits of the serial number (20) are correctly stamped on the various small parts. The back grip strap is stamped: "W.D. 219". This Luger is complete with an original Navy magazine that has the tin-plated body with the wooden base with the concentric circles on the ends. The base is stamped a "crown/M/488" lengthwise. Included is a non-matching serialized stock rig which uniquely has the disc plate on left side of stock numbered "W.D.221" which is two numbers away from the pistol which is "W.D. 219".

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 90% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot handling wear. Some scattered spots of brown patina visible on the lower front grip strap and left top side of frame. The smaller parts retain 50% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with a dark color overall and nice, distinct checkering mixed with some minor handling marks and light wear. The stock rig is fine overall. A fine representative example of a first issue/altered Imperial German Model 1906 Navy Luger.
