Manufactured in the 1940s, this is an exceptional Walther PPK pistol with factory quality engraving and presentation case; these sort of engraved sets were extremely popular gift and presentation items among the military and political elite of post-Weimar Germany, and sets in this style have been documented to a number of prominent historical figures. Fixed sights, with the Walther banner, two-line address and caliber and "Mod. PPK" markings on the left side of the slide, "eagle/N" proofs on the chamber, muzzle and slide, and a matching hand-scribed number on the interior of the slide. Over 90% of the exterior is covered with fine engraving in the traditional German style associated with Walther factory work, showing decorative whorl, dot and vine borders, checkerboard fill on the trigger guard, and especially deep cut oak leaf and acorn motifs on the upper surfaces of the slide. The grips are the traditional checkered pattern with impressed Walther banners, with a ring hammer and a 60 degree safety. Two magazines are included, one with a plastic extension colored to match the grip and the other with a flat engraved floorplate. The case has an attractive grain brown leatherette exterior with a velvet interior, marked "WALTHER/PPK" inside the lid and a French-cut interior that holds the aforementioned pistol, the spare magazine, three nickel plated inert rounds and a cleaning rod.

Excellent, with 98% plus original blue finish, showing a gray patina on the safety, minor edge wear and a small amount of handling marks. The grips are fine, with some visible heat deterioration, minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are all very fine.
