This rifle was manufactured by the Whitneyville Armory c. 1879-1883 based on the use of the serpentine lever and the earlier style serial number without a letter prefix. It features a nickel-silver blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. U.S.A. KENNEDY" on top of the barrel, "44 CAL. C.F." at the breech, the two-line patent marking on the upper tang, "1499" on the lower tang and lever, empty stock compartment and a special order short magazine.

Very good with 25% original blue finish, smooth brown patina on the balance, minor oxidation/pitting, general mild scratches and dings, period reattached/repaired toe, and a faint hairline crack above the toe on the right. Mechanically fine.
