Description:

Only around 1,000 3rd Models were manufactured in the early 1880s. This rifle has a bone blade front sight "G.W. MORSE/PATENTED OCT. 28TH 1856" ahead of the standard sporting rear sight, "45 CAL. 70 GR. C.F." on top at the breech, "A. BURGESS/PATENTED JANY. 7TH 1873/PATENTED OCT. 19TH 1875." on the upper tang, the serial number on the lower tang, smooth stock and forearm, and empty cleaning rod compartment.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 50% plus original bright blue finish, brown patina on the balance, minor oxidation, a filled knot visible on the right side of the buttstock with some minor cracking, small chips at the toe, a few dents in the wood, and general mild wear. Mechanically excellent.
