This elaborate revolver is handcrafted and masterfully engraved replica of an 1818-1827 Collier revolver, one of the predecessors of Colt's famous revolvers. Only a few hundred of the original revolvers were made. The cylinder is hand rotated similar to the Second Model Colliers but without the need for pulling the cylinder to the rear and does not have a plate fitted at the front. The frizzen has a built in magazine and is designed to drop powder into the pan automatically when it is closed. The engraving consists of mainly scroll patterns and includes a birds head motif above the gold inlaid "E.h. Collier" marking on the lock. The rib is also gold inlaid with "E.h. Collier 89 London" (similar to the original serial number 89 Collier revolver which was sold by RIAC in December 2016 for $63,250), and the barrel, cylinder, powder magazine/frizzen, lock, and breech plate also have gold inlaid borders. The nickel-silver trigger guard also has scroll engraving.

Very fine as custom made with crisp engraving, a mix of blue finish and gray patina on most of the metal, bright gold markings and bands, spots with pits/voids on some components, and some fit issues. The lock mechanism functions, but the cock and frizzen arrangement are such that actually firing the revolver would not be possible since the jaw and battery face are in contact with the frizzen closed and the lock at full-cock. The grip is good and has crisp checkering, a small crack on the left flat, a small chip at the tail of the lock, and light handling and storage wear. Given the incredible rarity of antique Collier revolvers and thus their high values as well as the very attractive engraving work on this piece, this impressive replica would make an excellent addition to any revolving arms collection.
