Description:

1) 12 inches long overall and the single edged clip point blade is 7 7/8 inches long. The handle is constructed of ornately carved antique ivory featuring the bust of what appears to be an African/African-American woman and a silver oval shaped guard with scalloping on the left side. Includes a leather sheath with silver fittings and an integral belt hook featuring a blank brass escutcheon. 2) 12 7/8 inches overall and the single edged clip point blade is 8 1/4 inches. The handle is bone carved with floral motifs with a slightly serpentine guard with finials. The scabbard is of German silver with integral belt hook, lightly engraved borders, and escutcheon engraved with "a pelican in her piety" heraldric symbol often associated with Louisiana.

Rating Definition:

Both are very good overall, the blades showing mostly a smooth grey patina with some scattered speckling of brown, some scattered light surface pitting, and some evidence of mild cleaning/sharpening. The grips show a few hairline age cracks but otherwise minimal handling evidence and excellent detail. The leather sheath shows some moderate wear and age cracking and generally an attractive antique patina. The German silver scabbard is mostly bright with some minor dings.
