Description:

The included factory letter confirms the current caliber and finish with the grips and barrel length as "Not Listed" (usually indicating walnut and 7 1/2 inches respectively) when it was turned over to the U.S. inspector at the factory on March 8, 1887. The top of the barrel has the one-line Hartford address. The left side of the frame is stamped with the three-line patent dates marking followed by "U.S." David F. Clark's sub inspection "DFC" stamp is located on the underside of the barrel, bottom of the frame, and cylinder. A "P" proof mark is found on the barrel and cylinder. The ejector rod has the correct bullseye head. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, with the partial "0631" on the cylinder and barrel. The grips are non-factory period checkered walnut.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retaining 30% plus original blue showing a mix of brown and grey patinas on the balance with some areas of surface pitting and spotting. There are strong patterns of original case colors visible on the forward portion of the frame in the more protected areas. The modified grip is good with high edge wear and some dings and scratches with period added coarse checkering. Mechanically excellent.
