Manufactured in 1882, this is a fine example of a desirable black powder Colt SAA revolver. The barrel is marked with the one-line address on top, the frame has the three-line patent information on the left, and the trigger guard is marked "45 CAL" on the left side front. The matching serial number is on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap with the partial serial number "5474" marked on the barrel and cylinder.

Fine, retaining 40% of the original blue with flashes of case colors in the protected areas. Bright areas of vivid original blue remain with the balance an attractive mix of brown and grey patinas. Some of the small parts show evidence of disassembly. The wood is also fine with most of the original varnish with scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically functions fine, although the hammer only has three clicks. Looks like it just came out of an attic!
