Description:

1) J. Moreton & Co. of Sheffield fighting dirk. 10 7/8 inch overall length with a 6 3/4 inch spear point blade marked with "J.MORETON&Co/WARRANTED" on the ricasso below a stamp of a bird. Floral pattern German silver guard and pommel and antique ivory grip scales with a blank escutcheon. The sheath is black leather with gold accents and German silver fittings. 2) Unmarked pearl handled dagger. 9 inches overall with a 5 inch spear point blade, serpentine guard, and pearl handle carved with clam shells at the pommel. The sheath is black leather with German silver fittings and tooled leather belt flap.

Rating Definition:

1) Good, the blade showing a grey patina with some light to mild pitting scattered throughout and evidence of moderate cleaning/sharpening. The handle is also good with reattached pieces of the guard and some age related cracking in the grip scales. The sheath is very good with mild wear and an antique patina on the fittings. 2) Very fine, the blade mostly bright with some evidence of light cleaning and some scattered light spotting. The grip is fine with a large sections cleanly repaired. The sheath is also very fine with minimal wear.
