Description:

One of only 925 Flattop Target Model Single Action Army Revolvers manufactured by Colt from 1888-1896, with this example being manufactured in 1890. It has standard markings and features, matching numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and butt, and "986" assembly number on the loading gate. The included factory letter confirms the Flattop configuration, 32/44 caliber, blue, and grips not listed as well as shipment to France & Thiele on September 18, 1890 (the cylinder will chamber a 32-20 WCF cartridge, writer did not have a 32/44 cartridge on hand so one will have to draw their own conclusion.) The letter goes on to state that there was also a standard Single Action Army in .32 caliber with a 7 1/2 inch barrel that shared this serial number that was also shipped in 1890.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains 30% original blue finish with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina with some patches of light to mild pitting. The oversized replacement grips are also very good with moderate wear, some discoloration, and well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
