Description:

Manufactured in 1917 with standard markings and features including "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER 44-40" on the left of the barrel. The revolver subsequently was period, factory quality inscribed "V. M. 'Texas' O'Hallisay" (no research on this individual available to writer) in script on the back strap and returned to the factory to be replated in 1923. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration besides the inscription and the grips (not listed) as well as shipment to Mitchell Powder Hardware Company in Bristol, Virginia on 24 July 1922, returned to the factory 18 September 1922, and again shipped on 22 October 1923.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains 95% plus factory replated nickel with some scattered mild flaking which is concentrated heavier around the inscription and softened barrel markings. The cylinder has been polished with some light pitting exposed. The grips are very fine with some scattered light handling marks and a hairline age crack in the butt of the right panel. Mechanically excellent.
