Description:

According to the included factory letter, this revolver was shipped to the London Agency at 14 Pall Mall, London, England on March 11, 1889. The grips are "Not Listed", with the other features, including the 3 1/2 inch barrel, confirmed by the letter. Finished in high polish blue on the barrel, cylinder and grip straps, casehardened frame and loading gate and niter blue on the screws, ejector pin, trigger and hammer. Grips are two-piece checkered hard rubber with Rampant Colt logos. Fixed sights, with the top of the barrel roll-stamped with the two-line address, "38" stamped on the bottom and "COLT D.A. 38" in an acid etched panel on the left side. The Colt three-line/three-date patent markings are stamped on the left side of the frame, with "812" on the rear cylinder face and "814" on the loading gate. London "crown/ V" and "crown/ P" proof and inspection marks are stamped in each of the six cylinder flutes and on the underside of the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% of the bright original high polish blue finish, showing a small amount of brown patina on the grip straps and cylinder and scattered handling marks. Case colors are bright and vivid, with a few patches of brown patina and the niter blue components are strong and fiery, with mild wear on the screws. Grips are very fine, slightly pushed back at top front with mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent. An exceptional example of a British proofed, London Agency Colt Lighting DA Revolver.
