This early pattern revolver has a spur trigger, exposed cylinder pin, no loading gate and scooped cylinder flutes. The two-line Merwin Hulbert & Co address appears on the left side of the frame and the "38 CAL" marking is on the right side. The rib has the two-line address/patent date marking. Features the distinctive Merwin diamond and scroll/punch dot engraving with a floral and leaf pattern on the sides of the frame and barrel. The left side plate also has the silhouette of a Centurion soldier. The butt is marked "2688", and the left side of the frame under the grip, barrel lug, inside of the left grip panel and rear face of the cylinder are numbered "2804".

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 95% original nickel finish with high point wear and some scattered very small areas of minor flaking. The top strap and cartridge slot on the recoil shield are both heavily battered. The hammer retains most of the faded case colors. The grips are very good with the left panel having sun faded to brown, and overall minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine.
