Description:

In operation under the Joseph Rodgers & Sons name from 1800 until 1983, this firm was one of the most established in Sheffield. This attractive set has the appearances of a folding pocket knife, however it contains eating utensils including a knife, fork, and spoon. All three utensils can be attached to each other when folded via a pin and rail system or detached and unfolded when in use. The knife blade is marked "JOSEPH RODGERS/&SONS" with "No 6/NORFOLK ST/SHEFFIELD" marked on the left ricasso and the star and maltese cross trademark on the right. The spoon bears the silver hallmarks "WH", "&", "S", "B", and "P". The handles are brass with an antique ivory grip scale on the spoon and fork which form outside grip scales when folded and assembled. Includes a small leatherette case which holds the piece when assembled.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall, mostly a smooth grey patina on the knife and for with the spoon mostly bright, attractive antique patina on the brass, a few small nicks in the knife edge, and the grip scales showing a few hairline age cracks and some light handling marks. Everything appears to assemble/disassemble and lock up as it should. The case is also fine with some mild wear and some minor tears.
