Johann Adam Kuchenreuter (1794-1869) was one of the most talented and most recognized members of the family. He was the court gunmaker for both the Princely House of Thurn & Taxis of Regensburg and the King of Bavaria. These mid-19th century pistols have rifled barrels with dovetailed blade front sights, "J. ADAM KUCHENREUTER" in silver, "1" and "2" respectively on the upper tangs along with key adjustable notch rear sights, bestial designs on the bolsters, hammer stalls, floral engraving, raised floral carving at the top of the wrists surrounding blank escutcheons, adjustable single set triggers, spurred trigger guards, and checkering with border carving. The case interior has gold scroll patterns on the otherwise green lining, wrench, measure, ball mold, combination tool, patches, screw, and loading and cleaning rods.

Very fine with 70% original brown finish, dark aged patina on the silver barrel markings, 50% original case colors, mild oxidation. Stock is very fine with distinct engraving and carving, crisp checkering, and mild overall wear. Mechanically fine. The case and accessories are fine and have moderate overall wear including some cracks.
