This wonderful flintlock gun was made by Wattell Clark of London in circa 1810. With browned damascus twist two stage octagonal / polygonal to round barrel signed “CLARK – LONDON” towards the breech, with bead front sight. Flat lock signed “CLARK” and engraved with a running border of foliage, a sunburst and two pheasants on the tail, with rainproof priming pan and roller frizzen. Scroll engraved standing breech and furniture. Figured straight hand, half stock with checkered grip, forearm with silver barrel key escutcheons. Brass mounted ramrod with worm. In mahogany fitted case lined with green baize, the lid with Clark printed trade label detailing his improvements to the breech and priming pan of flintlock mechanisms. With accessories including powder flask, shot belt and mainspring clamp.

Barrel retaining 98% rebrowned finish, signature refreshed. Engraving to standing breech crisp, same for furniture. Lock cleaned to a dull light grey patina, engraving clear throughout. Trigger guard and butt plate retaining 95% reblued finish. Stock with age related handling and storage marks, checkering good. Case in good condition, some mothing to lid lining, label stained and holed. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
