Dating to circa 1855. With fine Damascus octagonal barrels with raised flat rib, inlaid with gold tendrils at the breech ends and numbered “1” on the barrel lug. Grey casehardened breeches inlaid with further gold tendrils, signed “LEBEDA” in gold gothic script and with plugs each inlaid with a gold flowerhead. Grey casehardened standing breech chiseled with scrolling foliage heightened with gold details, inlaid with a gold dog and incorporating a silver shield shaped escutcheon engraved with a monogram. Grey casehardened side locks each signed “LEBEDA” in gold at the short stepped tail, chiseled en suite with further gold inlaid details, and scenes involving rabbits and a fox and a duck. The locks each with burnished internals. Grey casehardened mounts chiseled en suite comprising butt plates engraved with the serial number, trigger guard with scrolled green horn finger rest, trigger plate and ramrod entry pipe. Blued triggers and sling mounts. Figured walnut half stock with grip checkered with a weave pattern with carved trefoils, the inside of the forearm painted “No. 1” in red. Original ramrod with German silver tip numbered “1”.

Rating Definition:

Very good with most of the grey finish remaining on the barrels, well defined pattern, and some areas of spotting. The action retains nearly all of its original grey finish with sharp checkering. The trigger guard, ramrod insert and barrel pin escutcheons have some handling loss to the finish. The horn finger rest has a few slight chips. All of the gold inlays look to be complete. The stock has well defined checkering with numerous dings, scratches, and some bruising.
