Manufactured in the mid-19th century, with browned damascus twist octagonal barrel signed “ISAAC HOLLIS & SONS. MAKERS.” towards the border and scroll engraved casehardened patent breech, blade front sight and rear ladder express sight graduated from “100” to “700” yards. Casehardened standing breech with long top strap and side lock signed “ISAAC HOLLIS & SONS”. Furniture including trigger guard with scrolled finger rest forming a semi pistol grip. Border and scroll engraved throughout. Barrel struck with Birmingham proof marks. Figured straight hand half stock with checkered grip and forearm. Original brass mounted ramrod with detachable cap for cleaning attachments. With brass bound fitted oak case with accessories, the lid with printed Isaac Hollis & Sons trade label. A copy of the 1986 Holland & Holland invoice for this rifle is included.

Barrel retaining virtually all its rebrowned finish, signature clear, sights discolored. Breech with traces of original casehardened finish remaining with some discoloration. Standing breech and lock with faint traces of original casehardened finish, some discoloration, and clear engraving throughout. Stock refinished, some dents, bruising and patches of discoloration throughout. Case refinished, relined, reproduction trade label. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
