Manufactured in circa 1885. With browned damascus barrels signed on the concave rib, engraved with scrollwork at the breech ends, and with doll’s head extension. Casehardened border and scroll engraved action with automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE” and blued toplever and floorplate. Blued border and scroll engraved trigger guard. The barrels and action struck with London “Not For Ball” black powder proof marks. Figured walnut straight hand stock with rubber recoil pad and checkered grip and forearm. Length of pull: 14 1/2 inches.

Barrels with attractive pattern damascus twist and retaining 98% rebrowned finish, signature clear, scattered corrosion pock marks beneath the finish. Action retaining 40% original casehardened finish, engraving clear. Westley Richards type toplever and action floor plate retaining 40% original blued finish, trigger guard with traces of blued finish. Non-original inlaid safe marking inset into the top tang. Stock with nice figure with sharp checkering, some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
