This very fine double duck gun was made in circa 1885 by J. & W. Tolley who were highly regarded both in the United Kingdom and the United States as makers of fine quality large bore fowling guns. With fine browned Damascus barrels with flat rib signed “J.&W. TOLLEY. MAKERS. 1 CONDUIT. St. REGENT. St. LONDON. W”, engraved with a band of stylized foliage at each breech end and with foliate engraved doll’s head extension. Border engraved casehardened action with carved percussion fences and rebounding back action locks each signed “J. & W. TOLLEY”. Well figured semi-pistol grip walnut stock with rubber recoil pad, unique sliding forend release, horn grip cap, and checkered grip and forearm.

Barrels retaining 99% rebrowned finish, expertly redone, engraving clear, small amount of muzzle rub. Plain border engraved action and rebounding locks retaining 80% slightly faded original casehardened finish, engraving crisp. Refinished stock with replacement butt pad, sharp checkering, and virtually no handling blemishes. Mechanically excellent. This gun appears to be very little used.
