Blue steel dovetail lump barrels with a single bead sight on the concave rib marked "MADE EXPRESSLY FOR S. VEAL & SON. BRISTOL" with light scroll engraving at the breech end, chambers proved and measured at 2 1/2 inches, automatic ejectors, original Birmingham nitro proofs and London re-proofs on the flats, and improved cylinder/full chokes. Casehardened action and locks with hidden third fastener, dual triggers, and automatic sliding tang safety with gold inlaid "SAFE" marking. The action and locks have fine English style rose and scroll engraving with maker's marks on each lock, and matching engraved trigger guard, trigger plate, and tangs. Attractively figured checkered walnut forearm and straight grip stock with Anson latch, engraved fittings, blank initial oval, and serrated hard rubber buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech proved at .729/.729 and measured at .734/.732; choke constriction .002/.036; minimum wall thickness .026/.026; drop at comb 1 7/16 inches; drop at heel 2 1/8 inches; length of pull 14 5/8 inches; cast off.

Fine as professionally restored and wood repaired. The barrels have 99% professionally restored blue with some visible light pitting under the finish, legible markings, and some light handling marks. The action and locks have an overall silvered patina with well defined engraving, refinished trigger plate and guard, and areas of pitting on the forend iron. The wood is also fine with a visible repaired break at the front right of the forearm and at the toe of the buttstock, small dings overall, well defined mostly crisp checkering, and replaced wood at the forward end of the buttstock just forward of the trigger guard. Mechanically excellent.
