Manufactured in 1913. The chart on page 291 of "The Parker Story" by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote lists 9,346 top action hammerless shotguns manufactured with Titanic Steel barrels, but only one manufactured with 34 inch barrels chambered for 8 bore shells. Making this an incredibly rare (possibly one-of-a-kind based on available records) example of a large bore Parker double. Blue steel, dovetail lump barrels with dual bead sights on the flat matted rib marked "PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CONN. TITANIC STEEL", doll's head rib extension, 3 1/2 inch chambers with single large extractor, and correct factory proofs on the flats. The heavyweight number 6 action is casehardened with dual triggers, and automatic sliding tang safety. The action features the standard D grade engraving of tight flowing scroll and border engraving surrounding hunting dog and bird scenes with a setter on the right, pointer on the left, and four ducks in flight on the trigger plate. The trigger guard, break lever, and lower tang are engraved to match with matching serial numbers visible on the water table, barrels, forearm, and lower tang. Fitted with a multi-point checkered Circassian walnut splinter forearm and heavyweight straight grip stock with raised tear drop accents, blank silver initial oval, and solid rubber recoil pad with widow's peak hard rubber spacer. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 1 15/16 inches ; length of pull 14 inches; weight 12 lbs. 11 oz.

Very fine with 95% original blue finish remaining on the barrels, some visible light pitting and edge wear around the muzzles, a few scattered dings, and nicks, crisp rib markings. The action has 70% original case colors (more vivid in the protected areas) with an aged dark brown patina on the balance, crisp well defined engraving, some light silvering on the high edges, and mostly gray patina on the trigger guard. The wood is fine with attractive color, crisp checkering, scattered small dings, a few larger dents visible on the buttstock, and visible age deformation and hardening of the pad. Mechanically excellent. Quite possibly the finest Parker Brothers big bore extant!
