Description:

According to the included factory letter, this pistol was part of a 3-piece shipment to the Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri on May 31, 1906. Aside from the traditional "Not Listed" grips, the main features are verified by the letter. Fixed sights, with the two-line, two-block patent dates and address on the left side of the slide ahead of the circled Rampant Colt, and the two-line caliber marking on the right. A strong and bright casehardened finish is present on the checkered round hammer, with a vivid niter blue on the other small components. The frame is marked "VP/1" on the trigger guard, with finely checkered grips and an unmarked full blue magazine. Included with the pistol is an unmarked period made left-handed pocket holster, constructed from thick, hand-stitched brown leather.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine, with 85% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish, showing mild spotting and brown patina concentrated on the grip straps, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. 60% of the niter blue is present on the small parts, with some high point wear. The grips are very fine, with some dings, scratches and verdigris buildup. The holster is good, with a torn belt loop and mild stains and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
