This early production M1A1 Paratrooper carbine has the correct early features including a "2-43" dated Inland barrel, "UI" marked Type I narrow barrel band, blade front and two leaf flip up rear peep sights, blued flat top bolt, unmarked, smooth push button safety, unmarked magazine catch, milled trigger group, high wood M2 type stock with selector cutout at the front left, two rivet handguard, circled "P" proof at the rear of the stock wood, small Ordnance "crossed cannons" stamp on the end of the grip, correct steel wire folding stock with riveted leather cheekpiece, spring loaded cast buttplate with correct casting numbers on the rear face, and canvas web sling.
Fine with 60% thinning arsenal parkerized finish, mottled gray patina on the barrel, clear markings, and some scattered darker spotting. The wood is also fine with small dings throughout, some deeper dents and bruises mostly on the left side, scuffs and scrapes on the cheekpiece, untouched patina on the rivets, and some light oxidation on the folding stock. Mechanically excellent.
