Originally manufactured by Valmet of Finland and imported by Interarms of Alexandria, Virginia as a semi-automatic rifle, this M62S was converted by Precision Armament Industries of Avondale Estates, Georgia into a fully automatic rifle. Finland's answer to the Soviet AK-47 assault rifle, the M62 is regarded as one of the finer offspring of Kalashnikov's famous design. The most prominent change is the reinforcement of the dust cover to act as a suitable base for the rear sight, adding inches of increased sight radius and permitting use of a peep sight with finer adjustments. A bayonet lug is integrated into the three-prong wire-cutting flash hider, and the hooded post front sight is windage adjustable and fitted with a flip up night sight. The receiver is machined steel, with the PAI address added to the underside, a traditional "SAFE/FULL/SEMI" selector lever, and a matching number on the rear sight. Fitted with a ribbed and vented plastic forearm, hardwood pistol grip, and a fixed hardwood buttstock with Valmet-branded buttplate.

Very fine as converted to fully automatic, with 80% of the original matte gray finish, showing some rubbing and scratches on the sides of the receiver, areas of brown patina, and mild handling marks overall. A hairline crack is forming in the top of the stock near the receiver, otherwise the furniture is fine with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
