Blade front and adjustable ladder rear sights on the blue barrel with the chamber marked with standard imperial era "crown/letter proofs" on the right, "crown/SPANDAU" on top, matching serial number, "crown/FW", and "crown" proofs on the left. The armory bright receiver features standard proofs and is dated "1887". Full length, smooth, walnut straight grip stock with sling swivels, correct inspection and acceptance stamps, and matching visible numbers throughout. The buttplate tang is marked "K.A.R./E.4.68" indicating the weapon was issued to the elite Kaiser Alexander Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 1. This regiments tradition dates to 1626 and was formally organized in 1814 by King Frederick William III of Prussia after the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation and named in honor of Tsar Alexander I of Russia who was also its first colonel in chief. The regiment would be elevated to the status of Royal Guard in 1820 and would continue until its demobilization in 1918 following Germany's defeat in the First World War.

Excellent with 97% original bright blue finish on the barrel, very distinct markings, and some nicks and surface scratches on the barrel bands. The receiver and bolt are the correct armory bright finish with traces of very light spotting and handling marks. The stock is also excellent with sharp inspection and acceptance marks, some small dings, and some light spotting on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
