Part of the early German re-armament program under the recently-ascended National Socialist Party, the "K" date Lugers were manufactured in 1934 in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Additionally, this Luger bears multiple markings suggesting that it was procured for the Kriegsmarine for issue via the Baltic Naval Station at Kiel; per Jan Still's "Third Reich Lugers" (page 106), only 300 K-Date Lugers were procured for the Kriegsmarine. Fixed sights, with the "K" date on the chamber, "S/42" (script S) code on the front toggle link, and "S" (script and block) proof stamps on a number of components, along with "O][37" stamps on the receiver and barrel and "droop wing eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, receiver and breechblock. The left side of the frame bears an engraved "eagle/M" Kriegsmarine, with an "O.1803" inventory number on the front strap. Some small parts are straw finished, with niter blue pins and screws, checkered grips, and a blue finished alloy base magazine. Excluding the magazine, numbers are matching overall, including the grips. Included with the pistol is a brown leather flap holster stamped "R.EHRHARDT/POESSNECK", "1938" and "eagle/M" on the back, with a small takedown tool.

Fine, with 50% of the original blue finish, showing areas of mixed brown and gray patina, bright edge wear, scattered spotting, a small amount of pitting around the muzzle, and scattered scratches and handling marks. Bright straw color is present on the ejector and in the protected areas of the small parts, with the remainder turning gray, and strong niter blue on the sear spring. The grips are very good, with some dents, flat spots, and staining. The holster is good, with a number of shallow cuts, scuffs and cracks. The disconnector needs adjustment, otherwise mechanically fine.
