Description:

In origin a sporting arms company, Simson & Co. was tapped to be the sole supplier of new-made Luger pistols to the Weimar government for both military and police use. While their output was of fine quality, they were put out of business by the National Socialists for ideological reasons in the 1930s. This particular example is set up for military use, lacking the police-specific extra safety devices and not bearing any unit markings. Fixed sights, with a blank chamber and the very early "S" mark on the front toggle link. Many individual components bear "eagle/6" proof marks, with additional "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, receiver and breech block, and the traditional "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" markings on the extractor and upper safety position. Fitted with a pair of checkered grips and an alloy base magazine marked "eagle/6/9051/+/eagle/6".

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing a brown patina on the grip straps, bright edge wear, scattered small areas of pitting, and mild handling marks. 40% of the original straw color remain in the protected areas, with the balance of the surface of the small parts having turned a mixed gray patina. The grips are also very fine, with some mild dings and stains. Mechanically excellent.
