The accompanying factory letter states the rifle was received in the warehouse on August 3, 1881 and shipped on September 8, 1881 with a round barrel in .45-60 caliber and plain trigger. The second model receiver features a dust cover guide rail attached by two screws and a dust over with rear serrations. The barrel is fitted with a dovetail blade front sight and an "1876" marked folding ladder rear sight and is stamped with the two-line address marking ahead of the rear sight and "CAL. 45-60" at the breech. "45-60" is repeated on the cartridge elevator. The straight grip stock is fitted with a trapdoor crescent buttplate. Comes with a four piece cleaning rod.

Fine, retaining 40% original blue finish with the balance covered with patches of dark surface oxidation mixed with a smooth brown patina. There is some minor pitting, heavier on the buttplate. 50% original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The wood is very good with minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
