Description:

These N.R.A. muskets were made to comply with the specifications of the National Rifle Association of America. To comply for target matches of the association for "any military arm" matches, special 24 inch barrels, Model 1901 Krag rear sights and a special flat butt plates were fitted to the standard Model 1895. These muskets were made from 1904 to 1925, with this particular example having been made in 1915. The contoured receiver has the standard two-line address/patent dates on the left side, the upper tang has the three-line model/trademark information, and the lower tang has the serial number. The top of the receiver is marked with Winchester oval proof and the caliber marking. The front barrel band has a bayonet lug and stacking swivel, and a sling swivel is on the rear barrel band and stock. The forearm has a finger groove, and there is an upper handguard.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 90% plus original high polish blue finish with a grey patina showing in a couple small patches at the muzzle and on the magazine, and the buttplate mostly a smooth grey patina. The wood is also excellent with some scattered light dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
