Manufactured in 1920. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .38 WCF, blue finish and type of stocks not listed when shipped to Montana Sporting Goods Co. (address unavailable) on June 26, 1920. The barrel is stamped with the one-line Hartford address on top and "38 WCF" on the left side. The frame has the two-line patent dates marking along with a Rampant Colt on the left side. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. Self described "the only exclusive sporting good store in Montana," Montana Sporting Goods Co. was the successor to Engel's Sporting Goods Store in Butte starting in 1918.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% original blue finish with the balance thinning to a brown and high edge wear. 85% original case colors remain on the hammer and frame. The grips are also very fine with a tiny surface chip at the top (left panel) some minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. An attractive Montana shipped SAA. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
