Manufactured c. the mid-19th century, likely by the George Wostenholm firm, who is know to have used the "WARRANTED/OF THE BEST/QUALITY" slogan which is visible on the left ricasso of this knife. The overall length is 13 1/2 inches with a 9 inch clip point blade. The coffin shaped handle is of German silver with an oval guard and the popular half-horse half-alligator motif on each side of the pommel. The grip scales are of horn with an escutcheon on the left. The brown leather sheath is lightly tooled with German silver fittings. "K019" inventory number visible on sheath tip and cross guard of knife.

Fine, the blade showing mostly a bright grey patina with some scattered light pitting and some mild evidence of cleaning/sharpening. The handle shows generally an attractive antique patina with a crack in the left grip scale. The sheath is also fine with some mild wear and cracking.
