Samuel Colt's Model 1849 "Revolving Pocket Pistol" was one of the most important and widely used 19th century revolvers. Unlike Colt's larger models, this model was primarily meant for use by civilians for self-defense, but they are also known to have been carried as private sidearms by many soldiers during the Civil War. With around 340,000 manufactured in 1850-1873, more '49 Pocket revolvers were sold during the 19th century than an other Colt. This revolver was manufactured in 1868 and remains in very high condition. It has the standard markings and features, including all matching serial numbers (loading lever not numbered). It comes in a custom case with a cartridge pack, a round ball and bullet with the sprues still attached, a Colt patent dual cavity bullet mold, L-shaped combination tool, cap tin, and brass flask with a revolver on the side.

Very fine with 90% plus of the original, vibrant case colors, 85% plus of the bright, original, high polish blue remaining on the barrel, mostly smooth gray patina on the cylinder which has a distinct roll scene, strong original silver plating in the protected areas under the grip and otherwise a smooth aged patina on the brass grip straps, and nearly all of the high gloss "piano" varnish remaining on the grip. Mechanically excellent. The refinished case is very good and has some minor storage wear. The mold is refinished and has some pitting and faint markings. The combination tool is very fine and retains 90% of the niter blue finish and has minor wear form use. The other accessories are fine or better and have age and storage related wear. Definitely an very fine example of one of Colt's most influential models. The Model 1849 Pocket solidified revolvers as viable options for concealable firearms.
