Description:

This flask is for Colt firearms and a larger, but similar example is referenced on p. 176 of "Colt Percussion Accoutrements: 1834-1873" by Rapley. Measures approximately 4 3/4" (excluding charger) long and 2 3/4" wide. "Coat of Arms" motif with crossed handguns over 13 stars, eagle, shield, flags, cannon, and naval paraphernalia. Charger is unmarked.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining most of the original lacquer with some mild edge/high spot wear exposing an attractive antique patina on the brass below. The charger also shows an attractive gilt with most of the nitre blue remaining on the spring. A difficult accessory to find in this exceptional condition.
