Description:

34,000 Burnside Rifle Co. Model 1865 Spencer carbines were manufactured beginning late in the Civil War and first delivered early in the post-war era. Nearly all were used to fulfill U.S. Government contracts. This carbine is not fitted with a Stabler cut-off, and it has the standard markings and features. Spencers were one of the most advanced firearms of the Civil War and continued to see use by the U.S. Army, Native American groups, and settlers in the West in the late 19th century and into the early 20th century.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 20% original blue finish and case colors, particularly strong case colors on the breechblock, mix of gray and brown patina on the balance, some minor oxidation, and mild marks and scratches. The lightly sanded and reoiled wood is also very good and has traces of the cartouche on the butt, minor dents on the forearm, and minor handling and storage type marks. Mechanically fine.
