Description:

Manufactured in 1903 with standard markings and matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, and assembly number 2858 on the loading gate. Standard features apart from the grip which features a carved steer head on each side. The included copy of the factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed) when shipped to A. Baldwin & Co. in New Orleans on 3 August 1903. Among First Generation Single Action Army revolvers, only 16,402 left the factory chambered for this cartridge compared to 150,683 in .45 Colt making it a comparably rare and desirable variation.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 30% original blue finish on the barrel and strong traces of original case colors in sheltered areas with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina. The cylinder is refinished over mild pitting. The slightly shrunken period replaced grip shows an attractive age-darkened tone overall with a few minor chips in the butt and crisp carving. Mechanically fine.
