Manufactured in 1898 and subsequently Hartley & Graham New York engraved. The shipment was for 3 guns. The revolver features broad floral scroll with a punch dot background covering the sides of the barrel, frame and cylinder flats. The rear of the cylinder has a wavy line and dot band. Zig-zag line and dot motifs are on the frame and back strap. The top strap features simple dots. The trigger guard features an entwining line and dot motif. The top of the barrel has the one-line Hartford address. The left side of the barrel is marked "38 W.C.F." Matching assembly numbers are on the grip frame and loading gate.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine as period embellished by Hartley & Graham, retaining 95% plus untouched original nickel finish with scattered light flaking and edge wear on the balance. The engraving is crisp. 85% original niter blue remains on the hammer, trigger, screws and cylinder pin. The slightly oversize grips are fine with a couple tiny chips at the top (left panel), a couple hairline age cracks and attractive fiery colors. Mechanically fine. A highly attractive and desirable example of an exceptional Hartley & Graham New York engraved Colt Model 1878 DA revolver.
