Manufactured from 1868 to 1875. The revolver has a wonderful Nimschke style engraving consisting mostly of floral scrollwork on a punch dot background. The scrollwork on the barrel sides incorporate an arrow motif as found in L. D. Nimschke's pattern book. A geometric double line and dot motif is engraved on the back strap. The barrel rib has the one-line address/patent dates marking, and the revolver has an all nickel finish. Matching assembly marks are on the grip frame, barrel and cylinder. Both grip panels are numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Excellent as factory engraved, retaining 90% plus original nickel plating with flaking on the balance and a couple small patches of very light pitting on the butt. The engraving is crisp. The grips are also excellent showing some minor handling marks and attractive grain and color. Mechanically excellent. A fine 19th Century engraved S&W! Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
