This case is designed to hold a Smith & Wesson No. 1 revolver, a cleaning rod, and 56 cartridges. The exterior has the likeness of a No. 1 First Issue, several smaller renditions of the same as borders, scroll designs, and "MANUFACTURED ONLY BY/SMITH & WESSON,/SPRINGFIELD MASSACHUSETTS." The maroon interior has fancy scroll patterns on the lid lining.

Fine. The exterior shows some light wear in areas, a chip out of the bottom rim on the muzzle side, and a very small puncture in the bottom. The interior has a few chips from the cartridge block and barrel support as well as some staining of the lining. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
