Charles Dymond was a gunmaker for the Board of Ordnance in 1694-1711 and also worked with the East India Co. The three-stage barrel has London view and proof and the "*/EN" maker's mark of Edward Nicholson. The classic rounded "banana" shaped lock is marked with Queen Anne's cipher at the center, a "crown/broad arrow" mark below the pan, and is signed "C/DYMOND/6" at the tail vertically indicating production in 1706. The lock is secured by three screws. The ramrod ferrule and pommel cap are brass, and the trigger guard is iron. The lock and barrel and possibly the trigger are original, and the other components are replacements.

Rating Definition:

Good as assembled/restocked with mostly bright iron exhibiting mild pitting and light oxidation, aged patina on the brass, gaps around the lock mortise, and mild dings and scratches throughout. Mechanically fine.
