Manufactured c. 1790 in the Norman city of Caen. The bores are estimated above and flare out to around 1 3/8 inches at the muzzles. The multi-stage barrels have fouled naval anchors engraved at the breeches and iron tangs, and the flat bevelled brass locks are signed "Brunon/a Caen" and have rounded tails. The cock, frizzen, and smaller lock parts along with the trigger are the only iron components which is fitting for naval pistols. The walnut three quarter length stocks have wire inlays on the wrists. Include horn tipped ramrods.

Fine with attractively aged patina on the brass, defined detailing with minimal wear on the turned bands of the barrel, crisp fouled anchor and lock signature, 70% of blue finish and dark patina on the iron, and mild overall wear. The stock is also fine and has some slivers of inlay absent and minor scattered age related storage and handling blemishes. The ramrod stem is incomplete. Mechanical excellent.
