Thomas Reynolds was active in London from the late 18th century until his death in 1845. The barrel has a small silver blade front sight, a "burst" pattern at the front of the long rear sighting groove that extends to the upper tang, "T - REYNOLDS - LONDON- -" inlaid in gold in the groove, a gold burst pattern along with a gold band and gold vent liner on the breech plug, and London proofs, "TP", and "FINE TWIST" on the bottom. The upper tang also has "burst", border, and floral scroll engraving. The flat bevelled lock is signed "T-REYNOLDS" in gold and has a gold lined "guttered" pan, frizzen spring roller, and stepped tail. The trigger guard has a large pineapple finial, an engraved scene of a dog with a bird in its mouth on the bow, and some "burst" accents. The buttplate tang has a similar dog scene with the bird flying. The forend cap and wedge escutcheons are silver. The walnut half-stock has a checkered wrist and no cheekpiece.

Very good with bright original gold, mix of an older brown finish and brown patina along the barrel as well as visible twist patterns, traces of original case colors, 60% original blue finish on the buttplate, mostly brown patina on the balance, some mild oxidation, and generally minor wear. The stock is also very good and has a few minor spots of wear in the otherwise crisp checkering, smooth oiled finish, general minor dings and scratches, two minor cracks within the barrel channel, and a minor flake on the left at the edge by the breech.
