Completed circa 1887. With browned damascus barrels with blued block mounted large brass bead front sight, concave raised solid rib tapering to the base of the front sight block signed “W.W. GREENER. 68 HAYMARKET LONDON. WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879.”, and engraved “PATENT TREBLE WEDGE FAST” in front of the rib extension. Casehardened action with blued toplever and trigger guard, and signed on each side “W.W. GREENER” within a scrolled ribbon. The water table stamped “W.W. GREENER’S PATENT No. 930” and with Greener “Elephant” trademark. Greener patent side mounted safety catch. The barrels and action with Birmingham “Not For Ball” black powder proof marks and Birmingham nitro reproof marks, the barrels also marked “W.W.G.”. Figured 13 3/4 inch semi-pistol grip stock including rubber recoil pad, with checkered grip and forearm, the latter with dark horn tip and Deeley & Edge fastener. Comes with an extra set of blued barrels serial numbered to the gun and marked "W.W. GREENER. 68 HAYMARKET. LONDON. GREENER'S WROUGHT STEEL INDESTRUCTIBLE BY GUNPOWDER" with its own forend with horn wedge. Weight 12 lbs. 12.2 oz.

Barrels retaining 95% rebrowned finish, the rib signature clear. The extra set of barrels have been shortened and retain 98% of the reblued finish with some scattered pitting, and added front and mid-beads. Action retaining 25% original casehardened finish in sheltered areas. Trigger guard retains 35% of original blued finish with the toplever retaining 90% original blued finish. Stock with well defined checkering, some age staining, storage and handling marks. Both over horns cracked and repaired either side of the toplever. The extra forend is mostly bright with some colors on the protected forend iron and some separation of the horn insert. A hole has been placed into the bottom of the grip and filled with lead for recoil reduction. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
